IRPA13 Glasgow Congress - Young Professionals Prize

Dear IRPA Associate Society Officer,

As declared in the Second Announcement and Call for Papers, the IRPA13 Congress in Glasgow (13-18 May 2012) will award prizes for the best presentations by a Young Professional or Scientist. Whilst there is no formal definition of ’young’ in this context, it is intended to apply to students and persons in the first ten years of their career in radiation protection, and as such they will only exceed the mid-30s age in exceptional circumstances.

To be eligible for entry, the candidate must be selected and nominated by his/her relevant IRPA Associate Society, with one entry per society. The selected candidate from each Society will be guaranteed an oral presentation of their paper at the Congress. Societies are strongly encouraged to support financially their selected candidate for attendance at the Congress.

Prizes will be awarded for the best three submissions, with cash awards of £750, £500 and £250. Judging will take account of the quality of the underpinning work being presented, the quality of the written paper and the quality of the presentation itself.

All Associate Societies are asked urgently to establish a mechanism for the selection of their Young Professional candidate. To be eligible, a candidate must have submitted an abstract by the Congress abstract submission closing date of 16 September 2011, and the Associate Society must nominate their chosen candidate to the IRPA13 organisers (info@irpa13glasgow.com) by 30 October 2011.
